I am Kyle Stowers, and I am honored to announce my candidacy for the position of Justice of the Peace for Smith County Precinct 3. With nearly two decades of dedicated service as a police officer in the City of Troup, I have witnessed the intricate workings of our justice system firsthand. During my career, I had the privilege of working closely with Judge James Meredith, the current JP for Precinct 3. Through this invaluable experience, I have acquired the skills and understanding necessary to serve as a compassionate and fair Justice of the Peace, dedicated to upholding the highest standards of justice AND fairness in our community.
I am not only a dedicated public servant but also a proud family man. My journey in life has been graced by the unwavering support of my wonderful wife and best friend, Amanda, with whom I've shared a loving marriage since 2013. I am also blessed with the joy of two incredible daughters, Madison and Sophie. Their presence is my daily inspiration, and their involvement in our community events is a testament to our shared commitment to making a positive impact. I am incredibly thankful for the strength and love that my family provides, as they stand by my side in this important endeavor.
My journey in public service began with a strong educational foundation. Graduating in the top 10% of my class at Bullard High School, I sought to further challenge myself by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, where I proudly served and was honorably discharged. Upon returning to civilian life, I entered the law enforcement field, starting as a dispatcher for Whitehouse PD in 2006. Balancing the demands of the day shift and police academy training at night, I was determined to make a difference in OUR community.
My career in policing progressed as I patrolled for New London PD before finding my home at Troup PD, where I was hired in July 2008. Over the years, I have risen to the rank of Lieutenant and now oversee patrol operations, a role that has allowed me to gain valuable leadership experience and insight into the complexities managing others in the law enforcement field.
I am a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA), organizations that reflect my commitment to excellence in policing. With over 4,000 hours of law enforcement continuing education, I have pursued ongoing professional development and have earned certifications as a Master Peace Officer, Sexual Assault/Family Violence Special Investigator, Instructor, and Firearms Instructor from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
Beyond my law enforcement career, I am deeply engaged in our community as the 2025 President of the Smith County Republican Club, member of the Texas State Rifle Association, Firearms Policy Coalition, Troup Chamber of Commerce, Tyler Amateur Radio Club, Freemasons, and Shriners International. I actively volunteer with various charitable initiatives, underscoring my dedication to making a positive impact beyond the scope of my profession.
